Current Users
ICAL values giving all users the proper resources to use this facility. It is not only important to create an organized system through which users can reserve and safely use its labs and equipment, but to also allow for users to participate in improving the facility.
Instrument Reservations
ICAL utilizes Stratocore PPMS for its instrument reservations and invoicing. Please note that you will be unable to book instruments until you have completed an instrument training session with the staff and given user rights.
If you do not yet have a PPMS account, you will be able to request an account after logging into the system below:
User Listserv
Subscribe to the ICAL listserv to be alerted to instrument updates and important ICAL news. We highly recommend that every ICAL user joins this listserv.
How to add yourself
- Send an email to sympa@sympa.montana.edu from the email address you want to subscribe to the list.
- In the subject line of your message, type in: subscribe ICAL User Firstname Lastname (indicate your own first name and last name).
- Leave the message body blank.
Acknowledgment of Facility Use
ICAL must keep an up-to-date record of research contributions to report to our funding sponsors (MSU Vice President for Research and Economic Development; NSF, NIH, DOD, DOE, NASA, EPA, USDA, etc.) to maintain funding for this facility. This includes scholarly journal articles, presentations at professional meetings, book chapters, “white paper” reports, and patents.
When citing a core facility, please ensure that you are referencing their Research Resource Identifier (RRID) number, and funding source. A citation example for ICAL is provided below:
"Funding for the Imaging and Chemical Analysis Laboratory (RRID:SCR_026325), a Montana Nanotechnology (MONT) facility in the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) network, was made possible by NSF (ECCS-2025391) and the MSU Office of Research and Economic Development"
Please report any recent publications to us by sending your DOI or a PDF using the link below:
Recommended Guidelines for Authorship on Manuscripts
How should we acknowledge or include core facility personnel as authors? (the publication of results and data interpretation provided by the core facility)
Please follow this link to Association of Biomolecular Resources Facilities (ABRF) site on recommended guidelines for including core facility personnel as co-authors in publications.
Publication record is essential to ensure a high-quality core facility and for the professional development of its staff, we ask our users to carefully consider the input of core members to scientific publications.
