Meet a Graduate Student: Sheyda Salehirad
Sheyda Salehirad is a graduate student working with Dr. Amy Reines in the Physics Department. Sheyda is interested in astronomy specifically in the origin of supermassive black holes (BHs). Currently, she is working on data from the Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey to find accreting massive BHs in low-mass galaxies. Reliable detection of these massive BHs can strongly constrain BH seed models, which can ultimately help us uncover the origin of supermassive BHs. Besides astronomy, Sheyda enjoys reading, traveling, and outdoor activities.
