Physics alumnus Michelle Larson has been chosen as the President of Clarkson University, making her the 19th president and the first female president in the university’s history. Dr. Larson earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees (2001) in physics at Montana State University. Her dissertation title is “Superfluid effects on thermal evolution and rotational dynamics of neutron stars” (supervisor: Prof. Bennett Link). Subsequently, Dr. Larson held appointments at UC Berkeley, Caltech, Penn. State, and Utah State. Dedicated to science outreach, she has led the Adler Planetarium as their President and CEO since 2013. Katerina Chatziioannou, a former member of the gravity groups here at MSU and a current faculty member at Caltech, has been awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).

 

The PIs for the NANOGrav Physics Frontiers Center as well as the members of NANOGrav were all awarded the Rossi Prize by the AAS.
