Madison Nelson was selected for the STEM StoryTellers fellowship. This fellowship, with PI Dr. Shannon Willoughby, aims to increase the oral communication skills of graduate students in STEM. Often scientists are not taught how to effectively discuss their research with those not in the field and this fellowship pinpoints that void. Working in an interdisciplinary research lab, Madison views the ability to share research findings with peers and collogues with different backgrounds as an invaluable tool. She will use what she learns through the fellowship to increase her effectiveness of communication techniques within her group, at conferences and with the general public.
